A smokeless fire pit - not yet...

It is ready!  Randy built this amazing smokeless fire pit while I made multiple trips to get mulch.  I then spread the mulch (just saying).  Back to Randy and the fire pit.

To make this "smokeless" (like a Solo stove that became popular during Covid when so many people were meeting outside when it was still cool outside), Randy said that there needed to be an airflow on the bottom and inside the steel ring.  He drilled LOTS of holes (and broke more than one drill bit) in so doing.

We are trying it out tonight to see if it "works."

Update tomorrow!

Update: The fire pit is warm and wonderful, but it's not smokeless...yet.  Randy said that it is due to the openings between the rim of the ring and the top layer of the stones.  He is making a concrete top -- a capstone -- to seal off those openings.

It sure is pretty, though!
